What to except on our bike tours

Our cycling tours are designed for cyclists of all ages who would like to enjoy moderate sporting activities combined with exploring this magic island. However, if you prefer energetic cycling, you can.
Our routes mostly follow secondary, narrow and winding country roads through spectacular scenery with minimal traffic. We use sealed road apart from a few exceptions. Cars tend to drive slowly and attentively due to the winding nature of the roads; you will hardly notice them!
The daily distances are planned to allow for some short walks to places of interest. You will see well-known tourist attractions as well as little-known secret places.
On our group bicycle tours almost everything you could want is included, even all drinks. The guide looks after your every need. You can use the support vehicle (see below) whenever you like.
Our self-guided bicycle tours are our speciality. In the place of a guide, you will be provided with an easy-to-follow and comprehensive route-description. These trips can be customised according to individual requirements.
We own a fleet of quality hybrid bicycles which are regularly serviced to a very high standard. We also operate our own support vehicle support vehicle plus a very special user-friendly trailer.
We are very proud of our extensive preparation material which we send out after we have received your booking.
Green Island Tours Tasmania is locally based and continues to offer the most personalised service. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail. Our trips are excellent value for money. Just try us!

Accommodation

We have chosen a cross-section of accommodation styles that reflect what’s generally on offer in Tasmania. Bed & Breakfast houses, apartments, chalets, motel units with built-in kitchens or, in rare cases, basic country hotels with shared facilities. We have already included accommodation for the day of arrival and for the last night.
Considering that guests have quite different attitudes regarding their personal comfort needs and funds available, we offer the choice of 4 accommodation categories. Apart from the accommodation the trips are identical.

Executive category: Usually the best possible accommodation available in the given area.
Comfort category: Our most booked option with "feel good" places, many of them 4-stars.
Economy category: For guests who are satisfied with simple accommodation, like 3-star motels.
Hostel category: For backpackers and those who don't mind sharing a room with others occasionally.

Rental bicycle

Our rental bike - gents model. We supply quality, fast, hybrid bikes, which are maintained to the highest standard possible. A helmet (which is compulsory), a quality lock and a detachable handlebar bag are also included. During our group tours we do regular check ups and any servicing needed. Guests on our self-guided trips also receive a good pump and a repair kit (including a spare tube) but need to keep an eye on their bike.
The hire price is already included in the tour. If you prefer, you are most welcome to bring your own bike, although our insurance requires it has been checked professionally prior to the tour.

Support vehicle

Our Minibus with our custom made trailer.Group tours are joined by our own regularly checked support vehicle and custom build trailer. It is usally close by so if you dont want to cycle anymore you can take a break and continue later. To our knowledge, we are the only tour operator in Australia with an enclosed trailer of this design, that optimises safe transport and quick loading / unloading of bicycles.

Value for money

If you compare us with the 'competition' in detail, you will find that we are less expensive over all. There are no catches, just that we hate overcharging.
We don´t do any compromises in quality or service.
We don´t spend money on unnecessary things like an expensive website with fancy gadgets.
We will just give you better value for money, eg. better hotels for the same price, and wnat want you to have an unforgettable holiday for a fair price!

NOTE: If you are planning to do a bike tour by yourself in Tasmania, there are some things worth bearing in mind; certain areas are much more hilly, in reality, than it appears on maps; you can travel quite some distance without ever coming across shops; suitable accommodation is not always a certainty in all places. A more enjoyable and hassle-free option is to do a self-guided tour where you can travel independently but without the organisational difficulties. Better still, you could enjoy the fun and ease of a group tour. Either way, our trips have proven to be a very successful way to see the 'Holiday Isle'.
